Virtual Scrimmages

Students Typing at Their Computers

The Bluegrass Debate Coalition and the West Virginia Speech and Debate Association are offering virtual scrimmages in Public Forum Debate and Lincoln Douglas Debate for middle school and high school debaters in Kentucky and West Virginia. Twice a month, students will be able to log on to a Zoom room and be paired with another debater or pair of debaters to scrimmage on the current PF or LD topic. Scrimmages will be facilitated by experienced debate coaches and judges who will give students high-quality feedback. There is no cost for students or teams to participate.

  • Thursday, February 11, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM EST

  • Thursday, February 25, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM EST

  • Tuesday, March 9, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM EST

Our goal is to ensure that every student who attends a virtual scrimmage gets to debate at least once. Depending on when students log into the Zoom, how long they would like to practice, and how many students attend, it may be possible to complete two scrimmage debates.

Zoom links for each virtual scrimmage session will be posted here on the day of the scrimmages.
